The building is set on Rua do Padre Cruz, integrating into a continuous urban frontage undergoing consolidation. The proposal is based on a critical reading of the immediate context, responding to the different heights and depths of the adjacent buildings. The resulting volume is shaped by this adjustment, with the main body aligned with the street frontage and a recessed top floor that recomposes the urban silhouette and softens the perception of the building’s overall height.
The internal organization of the building reflects this volumetric logic. The typical floors adopt a clear and repetitive structure, while the ground floor and the recessed level are conceived as variations within the system, responding in specific ways to the relationship with the street and the rear courtyard. The apartments are organized around the main living space, from which all other spaces unfold. Balconies and terraces play a central role in extending the living areas and mediating the relationship between interior and exterior.
The architectural expression results from an honest transposition of the spatial configuration onto the façades, where the interplay between solids and voids, recessed planes and projections creates depth and rhythm. Materiality is treated as a unifying element, reinforcing a restrained and timeless presence, capable of engaging with the diversity of the existing urban frontage and affirming the building as an element of continuity and consolidation within the urban fabric.

O edifício implanta-se na Rua do Padre Cruz, integrando-se numa frente urbana contínua em processo de consolidação. A proposta parte da leitura crítica da envolvente imediata, respondendo às diferentes cérceas e profundidades dos edifícios adjacentes. A volumetria resulta desse ajustamento, com o corpo principal alinhado com a frente de rua e um último piso recuado, que recompõe a silhueta urbana e dilui a perceção da altura construída.
A organização do edifício reflete esta lógica volumétrica. Os pisos tipo adotam uma estrutura clara e repetitiva, enquanto o rés-do-chão e o piso recuado se desenham como variações ao sistema, respondendo de forma específica à relação com a rua e ao logradouro. Os 13 apartamentos organizam-se a partir do espaço de vida comum, para onde convergem os restantes espaços. As varandas e terraços assumem um papel central na extensão do espaço habitável e na mediação entre interior e exterior.
A expressão arquitetónica resulta da transposição honesta da configuração espacial para as fachadas, onde o jogo entre cheios e vazios, planos recuados e saliências constrói profundidade e ritmo. A materialidade é tratada como elemento unificador do conjunto, reforçando uma presença sóbria e intemporal, capaz de dialogar com a diversidade da frente urbana existente e afirmar o edifício como um elemento de continuidade e consolidação do tecido da cidade.
